Loud, primitive and brutal, feedtime’s stripped-down, minimalist approach led them to be compared to British post-punk outfit Wire (although feedtime did not know Wire's music), but their sound also heavily references rural American country and blues.
In the 1980s, the band recorded four albums - ‘feedtime’, ‘shovel’, ‘Cooper S’ and ‘suction’ (all released by Aberrant Records in Australia and licensed by Rough Trade in the U.S.) - before splitting in 1989.
In 1994, they resurfaced (initially as critter) with new drummer john, and in ’96 recorded their fifth album ‘Billy’ (released by Black Hole in Australia and Amphetamine Reptile in the U.S.), before parting ways again in 1997.
In 2011, the ‘classic’ rick / al / tom lineup (playing here) reunited at the request of S.S. Records’ Scott Soriano to co-headline his label’s 10th Anniversary weekend in San Francisco. The following year, the first four albums were remastered and rereleased by Sub Pop as a four-disc box-set, ‘The Aberrant Years’, to coincide with the band’s first U.S. tour. This was accompanied by ‘Today is Monday’, a collection of unreleased studio, demo and live tracks spanning 1985-1996, on S.S. Their sixth album, ‘gas’, engineered by Total Control / Eddy Current Suppression Ring’s Mikey Young, was released by L.A.’s uber-cool In The Red in 2017.
